(28 March, 2020)

I came up with this song in one day. It was inspired by an experience at the grocery store in the current Age of Social Distancing. When I handed $2 to a guy selling Real Change newspaper, his lady friend ran up to him (and me) saying 'I'm gonna hug you right now!'. Food for thought, how brutal it is for people without roofs over their heads right now... Prayers to all without refuge.

Poets and philosophers are talking about how the virus is ushering in the end of the age of the hungry caterpillar (human history/destruction of nature). Now all forms we know are melting down ~ next stage is chrysalis, then hopefully butterfly!

I found this site last night as I was researching the words:
www.businessinsider.com/whats-inside-caterpillar-cocoon-butterfly-chrysalis-metamorphosis-2019-9
I didn't know about imaginal discs. How magical!!!

lyrics

I'm gonna hug you right now she said
Running up to the young man
with the clouded face cracking open to smile
every once in a while

She don't care no more about rules and revelations
'bout the survival of the fittest
that hittest home the hardest
for those left alone

Change is gonna come when nothing's all you got
Listen for the dinner bell for your imaginal cells
The forms we know will change to naught

Change is gonna come when nothing's all you got
Listen for the dinner bell for your imaginal cells to gel.

I'm gonna hug you right now she said
Kiss my chrysalis to sleep
Just wait til you wake up in the new form you will keep
