Taipei (440 / 7)

about

I produced a recording of Amis Tribe teenagers playing samba drums and singing Taiwanese pop & tribal music. I visited 3 times, spending about 3 months there, during which time I made many field recordings (amydenio.bandcamp.com/album/naruwan-taiwan-meets-brazil).

The foundation is 3 field recordings: 1) Rehearsal with the students 2) Cicadas and Frogs near Cuei Lake 3) Long Shan Buddhist Temple in Taipei on the eve of the Chinese New Year in February, 2007.

The numbers of infected and dead (440/7) were used to create the haunting melody on glockenspiel and clarinet.
